That sucks... And they didn't lower the tow package price.
And yes it is strange that a 7500 pound rated hitch comes with a 2" instead of a 2 5/16". But I guess most people will tow smaller trailers anyhow, and the 2" will work fine there.

2012 ML 350
I just bought a 2012 ML350 and had the hitch receiver installed by the dealer. I( am trying to find the part number of the ball coupling that was supplied with the factory installed hitch receiver. I can see a MB part number on a picture of the ball coupling in this blog, but cannot read it.

So, does anyone know the part number?

My 2015 ML350 diesel which I bought to tow the race car trailer with does not come with the actual ball - I was also told by MB that they don't include it with the car as the size varies on the trailer (IIRC a class 3 trailer uses a 2" ball, class 4 and 5 use 2 5/16") and that I can buy one at any Canadian Tire store for $20.

True, but the one pictured in my post is a much higher quality stainless steel one ( won't rust).

Is that a 2 5/16" MB-made ball? I've heard of a 2" class 3 MB receiver, but they didn't tell me anything about a class 4. I'd also prefer an actual MB part if it actually exists!

Don't know if such exist. They are a commodity item. But don't get chrome, and don't get the $20 ones. These look decent: http://http://www.stainles****chballs.com. Stainless_hitch_balls (remove underscores).

My 2012 350BT with factory hitch came with the ball/ball mount as previously pictured. I used it once, but the thing fit so loosely in the receiver that it constantly rattled in an annoying way. Since then I've just used the one I already had on hand which actually fits better than the factory one, with no noise.
