2013 ML350 no ambience lighting in P1 anymore.
I just got my 2013 ML350 that I ordered on Aug 4th. Love the car, but what a bummer! It has no ambience lighting and illuminated door sills. As the dealer told me that it doesn't included in Premium 1 package anymore. Have to order as separate option. Is this true? It's not a big deal without the lightiing, but just want to make sure that the dealer is right. BTW, the premium 1 package is $3,700.

The code for the ambient lighting is now 876. I called MBNA early this year and was told one of the reasons they pulled the hot/cold cup holders was that people were tending to roast their keys. It seems that once again we have to protect ourselves from ourselves.

In the UK, we never had a packaged option like the one in US... we pay for each item separately.. I do wonder if it would have been cheaper for us if the package was available but then again, knowing everything that we do, they would have priced it accordingly to keep ripping us off.. hey ho!!!

Ambient lighting is a nice option and under priced by any manufac standards. It is a stand alone option for 2013.
As for heated cup holders, the frying of remotes has been dispelled by other MB insiders. The reason given for the option being pulled from package is that it interfered with signals from remote.
And consumers are disappointed with the option expecting it to heat their drinks. It is keant to keep it warm. This may also lead to knocks against MB in "quality" ratings because of the poor scoring system.
If you think about it, asking the heater to heat your coffee is ridiculous. The safety hazard of having something that hot and exposed in the car is off the charts. And it would have to be that hot to ruin remotes. I think it is highly unlikely that remotes were ruined.

I can't wait to see how it looks when mine (finally) arrives
We have no option for heated/cooled cupholders either

Heated Cupholders don't seem to work with Keyless Go.
Keyless is essential, so ditch the fancy cuholders. I prefer my coffee freshly brewed anyway!

Ambient lighting
My dealer sold me down the river on the ambient lighting on my very early 2013 ML350...said it came with the "lighting package" and I asked more than once...well it arrived with the headlight package but that was it and they got all huffy and blamed MB-USA for the confusion. It was unclear when I ordered it but they obviously didn't do their homework. Also told a fib about the passenger side memory function saying that was automatic with P1. They wouldn't even toss in some floor mats to make it up so it will be serviced elesewhere.

BTW I see you're in the NW, which dealer was it?
