However I have now been advised that my new car will be sailing on the "Carmen".
Upon checking its route, its journey began in Baltimore, and has now berthed at Savannah GA, where I presume all Tuscaloosa production may be loaded.
Next stop will Manzanillo Panama, then via the canal across the Pacific to Melbourne (November 2), Port Kembla, Newcastle, and finally Brisbane.
So it will not be here on the original promised date, but the latest promise of November 10 is certainly looking good
Hopefully it will be ML350BT, Palladium with Grey/Black leather, satin ash, CV1 pack, Airmatic, On/Off road pack, HK sound

Do we all have access to this? I'd love to be able to track mine as well.
Thanks.
Cheers

When the time comes, your dealer will be able to advise the ship your car will be on. Then you google (the ship name), Wilhelmsen, and Melbourne. Work your way through the site and the details will appear.
Listerone:
Our cars may be close to double US costs, but my list of gear was only the "extra" goodies. Standard inclusions are: Command, Nav, Reverse camera, Park assist, Eco stop/start, Electric seats with memory pack, heated seats, mirror pack, Ambient lights, artico leather dash, real leather seats, 20" wheels, BiXenon pack, Driver assistance Plus pack, and many other little items you pay extra for. The CV1 pack includes Sunroof, Keyless, and electric tailgate.
At last Mercedes has recognised that at the top end of the market, you need the top end of equipment. So I am happy to pay the premium.

So how come you didn't get the AMG pack with 21inch wheels and airmatic ?Or.....should your P1 be SP1 ??

I did not order the SP1 pack as I preferred the OnOff road pack. Selection of either of these packs automatically excludes the other.
The AMG trim would interfere with the underbody protection.
The 21" wheels are unsuitable for off road driving.
Airmatic is included in both packs and if you refer to my first post, you will note it was one of the options I listed.
I did not mention P1, I believe that is a US only option.

Ian, thank you also .... your car must be getting close to arrival now! Enjoy
Don't know what I was looking at.........definitely too many options......it was much easier 30 years ago when I was working for MB
I would have liked the off road option also, but figure I will spend 99% of time on road. May just invest in a set of wheels and tyres for the odd dirt track trip.
Usually do that stuff on my bikes though.. Just back from 9000km trip to cape York..... No way would I take my car there.

Fortunately things have changed.

One thing you will probably appreciate is the dust/pollen filter to keep the bulldust out. I have never had the opportunity to test my W164 under those extreme conditions.
Birdsville will be a cinch. They have graders over those roads once a year.

You could drive a Toyota yaris to the top if you wanted to, but no way will I ever do it in any of my cars.
......you never get the red dust out
......the corugations are worth about 5 years wear on the whole vehicle.
..... Places like Archer River have junk yards full of stuffed 4x4s. Roll overs, broken chassis, etc etc.
The grey nomads are great. The 4x4 goons are insane and dangerous.
Hire a 4x4 in Cairns and pay for the full insurance

(I congatulate the automatic moderater for correcting me for suggesting I have dubious parentage.)
