Aussiebenzlover,
They ship to Melbourne for Vic Tas & SA, Kembla for NSW, Brisbane for QLD and Northern rivers, & Freo for WA
AZHiker,
Part of the reason for our high cost (taxes aside) is the standard kit we have not mentioned. This includes full leather, covered dash, full assist inc Distronic, BiXenons, ECO stopstart, Memory pack, Mirror pack, rear seat pass through, dual sunshades and much more which you have as options. And the CV1 pack which is all but standard adds sunroof, elec tailgate and Keyless.

Hi Aussiebenzlover,
Nice specs should be well worth the wait.
The shipping schedules can be looked up at:-
http://sagaweb.2wglobal.com/AppSchedules/countryList.do
I guessed Melbourne was your Port of interest but if not then the above link gives the option.
Current schedule is:-
From ................Depart .......To .................Arrive .........Vessel
SAVANNAH, GA 07/12/2012 MELBOURNE 10/01/2013 TAMPA
SAVANNAH, GA 13/12/2012 MELBOURNE 09/01/2013 OBERON
SAVANNAH, GA 20/12/2012 MELBOURNE 18/01/2013 TAIKO
SAVANNAH, GA 25/12/2012 MELBOURNE 26/01/2013 TAMESIS
SAVANNAH, GA 06/01/2013 MELBOURNE 08/02/2013 TULANE
SAVANNAH, GA 14/01/2013 MELBOURNE 08/02/2013 TEXAS
Unfortunately it seems that vehicles sit in the holding yard in Tuscaloosa County for a bit before being taken to Suvannah for shipping.
I guess with a production of something like 600 vehicles a day the distribution logistics are interesting. Have a look at Google Earth to see the facility ( search Mercedes Benz Tuscaloosa ) - its huge!
Ian, I like your idea of a bubbly celebration of arrival. I think I'll take a run down to Port Kembla on the 10th Dec to see what I can see.
Cheers all, Chris

They wait at Tuscaloosa, then they take 2 weeks to cover 50km from port to dealer, sigh!
But its worth the wait.
We've previously done the test drive so we know the comfort and the spirited handling ability. But driving a little more you see and feel the subtle niceties about it.
I was concerned about the ECO stop/start after bad experiences with the Audi (its dangerous), but the ML is so smooth. From stopped, it moves off the line quicker than the W164 with no jerk, just smooth transition to performance. The hill holder and HOLD work brilliantly, Distronic functions to perfection, Active lane plus is subtle rather than forceful as some on here have suggested.
Yes I can forsee many happy times together with this beast.
