Crack on my dash

Hello guys, yesterday morning, all of a sudden, I noticed a scratch on the dash . Of course I'm quite sure that nobody touched that area, moreover, being just in front of my eyes, I fear that it's a crack.
I'll keep it under control in order to see if it gets longer. Anybody with similar experience?

Looks like a scratch, not a crack. Perhaps from tossing sunglasses or a transponder up onto the dash.

As others have said, that is almpost certainly a scratch. That material would not crack like that in that location.

...it has been my first feeling also, BUT, after the initial panic, my blood came back to the brain and:

- if pre-existent I would have noticed it
- so far nobody else except myself could have had the opportunity to do it
- I've never touched that area

It sound very strange for me also, ...that's why I'm looking for similar experiences...

Yes, I see more than half of it. Today I'll try to make a "macro"...

Question

[UPDATE] Went to the dealer and they admitted that the damage is fully covered by the warranty...

BUT

...I don't think it's a good idea to replace the whole part because of "more than possible" future rattles & crunches...

I really don't know what to do. I've also evaluated the possibility to ask for the "MBTex wrapped dash" addition which I didn't get as option, just to set up my mind a little bit more...

BUT

I'm still not convinced...

What would you guys do in my shoes?

Since warranty covers it, I would just get it replaced. None of us have seen this issue before so it doesn't seem like a common problem and not something you'll encounter again.

I'd also ask the dealer if you can pay the difference to order the MB Tex wrapped dash (if there is a price difference) and replace it with that. It will be a nice upgrade.
