ordered Bluetec 11/6/12 - build date 1st week Dec. - true?-

Ordered ML350BTC 11/6/12. Dealer confirmed it's scheduled for build date the first week of December and could arrive later that month or early January. After reading about all the delays on this forum I'm wondering if this could be true. We've bought two S 550 from this fellow and have dealt with them for 13 years. He gave us 4% off MSRP and a nice trade on my Porsche Cayenne.

Details: Diamond White, Almond Beige leather, wrapped dash, PO 1 package, Parktronic, Lane Tracking Package, Wood/leather steering wheel, Bi-Zenon lighting package; ambient lighting, Multi contour seats, trailer hitch, Harmon/Kardon sound, soft close doors/ lockable rear storage.

I told him that if any option would cause a delay to notify me. But he said that everything is OK.

You should probably get it in April/May 2013. Get ready for long delays.
Ordered mine in May 2012 and just got it 2 weeks ago.

That's disappointing but after reading about the long delays here it's not unexpected. He claims that he was able to alter a car already in the production schedule for the first decade in December.

Well the truth will be apparent in 5 - 6 weeks.

I would not expect delays if they are just altering a build. Net star does not usually accept a build if the options are not available

If they altered a build, you should be fine.

Thanks - your comments are reassuring. When ordering we dealt with the New Car Manager and he's the one who initially said he had a second decade December production with delivery approximately 4 to 6 weeks later.

The next day my Sales agent emailed " ....the order has been taken by Mercedes and the vehicle has a build date of first week in December. We found a vehicle a week sooner. I can't say if it will make it in December but it has a chance. Production is only a day or two, but then it sits on the lot and when they have enough gets loaded onto the train. Then shipped to the Port in Baltimore where they get prepped, and sit again. Once released to the drivers we get the vehicle. You could see it for X-mas, too early to tell but by early December we should get better idea on that."

As much as I love my Macadamia Cayenne and it's a thrill to drive we simply need a larger vehicle with room for a dog and a couple suitcases. I thought I was done with the big trucks, they were handy when we delivered kids to college and helped them move into various apartments but now that I've downsized I'm content with a SUV that fits into parking garages and smaller city parking spots. I've had a 95 Suburban, then a few Tahoes, a 01 Sequoia, 04 Lexus LX 470, 07 GX 470 and my 10 Cayenne.

The Ml looks like the right car for us at the right time.

Thanks again, Finn
