hmm, the US market is relatively small for MB then, as their annual world wide sales is 1.2 million.

Small?
Accounting for around 22% sales of Mercedes, it is still the highest sales number for a single country for Mercedes (narrowly higher than Germany for the month of October).

This is the breakdown of world sales for the month of October:
Western Europe - 42% (Germany 21.2%)
North America - 24.5% (USA 22%)
Asia/Pacific - 24.6% (China 14.5%)

One weak area for Mercedes is China. BMW sales in China is almost twice that of Mercedes and has become the highest sales country for BMW bypassing Germany.
