Prepaid Mainteinence
1) Prepaid maintenance is not refundable, so if you later decide to trade-in before 5 yrs then you are out-of-pocket.
2) Prepaid maintenance is to be used per warranty either mileage or time (1yr) whichever comes 1st, so if you are planning under 10K per yr, you still need to use it up at 1 yr mark or you are out-of-pocket
3) You'll like this one - It is cheaper by a bit if you buy a 3 yr (like $770) then buy a 2 yr when the 3 yr expires - or buy 2nd time a 3 yr - either way saves you a few more $$$
Prepaid maintenance is not so much a s savings issue - and it is a convenience issue - and also protects you against future service cost increases for any reason that come down the pike
Also, I know of dealerships that offer similar savings programs to existing customers, even without the Costco membership.
I'd also call our local non-dealership shop that services Mercedes Benz and see what they say. They typically do it cheaper anyway.
To fabbrisd1's good point that it's non-refundable: what if your car gets totaled? I assume that all is lost....this might be good question for your auto insurance company.
