ML 350-New feature for 2013...
No doubt old news by now.
I went to our dealer Friday afternoon to have Mrs. Wayne's GLK 4matic washed and the tires rotated. I hadn't visited the dealer since the 2013s arrived, so I naturally wandered through the goodies admiring all of the new models. As I approached the row of shiny new MLs, I noticed something odd.
The first in line had ML 550 bading on the left of the tailgate and 4matic on the right like all previous MLs that I had seen on the lot and the road. The next two in line only had ML 350 on the left. 4matic was missing. I went straight to the window stickers. Yep. 4matic is now an extra cost option. Bummer.
They also had my favorite sedan parked near the showroom. An E 350 P2 Sport Pacakage AMG shod lovely. I would have been sorely tempted to do something stupid if it were not for what I think is the ugliest baby poop brown paint ever placed on an otherwise gorgeous automobile.
Diminishing features strike again.

You're looking at it the wrong way. They make 4matic optional for people who live in FL and the like. The base price is now lower because they can now skip that essentially useless option. The 2wd GLK350 sells disproportionately high in that type of climate, for example.

All I remember is that the extra $2k for 4matic on the 2012 GLK 350 made the price of an ML 350 4matic very tempting. I didn't price the 2013 models to see if that difference was similar to what it was in 2012. It also made shopping for an ML a lot easier for those of us who believe in AWD anywhere, anytime.

Know your someone that understands the 4 matic. I never used to. I would rather have it then an air bag. It totally settles down handling problems and increases cornering safety.....unless ur a nutter driver
