Grrrr....

1) My embrace is not working. The sales rep set me up with the account and told me to press the "I" button. Nothing happened, so I called MB Cust Svc. They said the account was active but my vehicle is apparently having some communications issues and needs to go back to the dealer for service and proper initialization of the system. I have an appointment for Thursday - seems they're booked up for Wednesday.

2) Is it just me or does the COMMAND documentation not match what actually happens in using the system? I've set up contacts, added voice tags, and when I say "Call Bob" it gives me a listing of all the contacts and instructs me to pick a line number. I don't want to pick a *&^@^* line number. Just do like it says in the manual and call Bob!

21 miles on the odo and it sits there mocking me! Double Grrrrr!!
Is there a Command for Dummies?

Thanks for the reply. It made me realize that I never received a Comand User Guide. I pulled the pdf from the Web site and think it will help.

Did everyone else get this as part of the documentation at delivery? I need to talk to my SA when I go in for service on Thursday.

I'm not whining, just frustrated.

Yes, you should have gotten the separate "COMAND Operating Instructions" in the folder with the other manuals. My 2012 version is 232 pages. Your dealer should be able to order it.

I suspect your mBrace was not system checked when your ML was delivered from the factory - please understand if that is what happened, and if they need to reload mBrace, that could take about 2 hrs for the download. Just so you know.

Yes - that COMAND MANUAL should have been in your binder.

Any dealer who can't get a new owner into line immediately on a delivery related issue is not following corect Mercedes protocol - call the Service Dept on Weds, ask for the Serevice Dept Manager, and you tell him when you want to bring your ML in and tell him you are fulkly willing to call MB Customer Service at (800) 367-6372 option 4 (followed by option 5) to escalate your situation to MB Corporate.

If that doesn't get you the "All or Nothing" treatment you deserve, MB WANTS you to call them.

By the way - do a check thru the cluster on your tire pressures - if that dealer missed mBrace setup - they could have missed other things too like resetting the tire pressure (and/or NotroFill if your dealer does that like great dealers so).

Keep the faith - and remember MB WANTS their customers treated well.

This is bullsh*t - and dealer "volume" is no excuse.

Thanks for all the good advice. I am in line for service tomorrow (Thursday). I would have raised a stink today but with the first day back to work, etc., I was busy and it's difficult to communicate much outside of my workplace. Looking through the pdf for the Comand helps and I will speak to the SA tomorrow, insisting that they deliver one pronto.

Got the embrace fixed today and it seems to be working fine!

I asked my SA about the COMAND manual, and she seemed puzzled. She checked several other new MLs which had come in and none had the COMAND manual in the documentation set. She suggested referring to the Voice Control System | Linguatronic manual but I said that's not the same. I have the pdf and found it (so far) to be far more useful in helping me understand than anything which was packaged in the vehicle.

I took delivery of my ML350BTC last month and my documentation did not include a separate COMAND manual. Further frustrating things is that the PDF that I downloaded from MBUSA was missing most of the diagrams/pictures. I called the dealer and they said they would get me a manual, but nobody ever called back. I finally stumbled across the online interactive manual (http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual...al_base.shtml?) and was able to figure things out.

Good info - just checked and no COMAND manual - Owner's Manual, Digital Manual, Voice, etc... but no COMAND... I will check later if it is now incorporated into the Owners Manual.. which has been a trend starting with the S-Class.

Drat! I just checked the link the on-line interactive Owner's Manual and it seems like all the links have been broken for the "Bluetooth telephony", "COMAND Online" and "Audio 20" sections of the manual. I hope MB fixes these links quickly as the .pdfs are inadequate! BTW, I checked and the COMAND manual is NOT part of the 2013 ML Owner's Manual.

I just did a quick review of the mbusa.com download manual - and over the 274 pages the diagrams seemed complete - overall very thorough manual, but of course that can be tedious with such detail..

Keep the faith !

A friend who works at a print shop just printed and spiral bound the COMAND manual for me. (Staples or Kinkos can do it for about $20 or so.) I find it very odd that it's not part of the standard documentation delivery with the 2013 ML350 as the PDF file is dated "Edition A 2013" on the back cover and is labeled on the spine as "COMAND Supplement".

I have the same issue with my wife's 2012 GLK. Tried everything in the manual, set up the voice tags as you did, but it still asks for a line number.
In my 2007 ML, I hit the talk button and say "call Bob", and the next thing I hear from the lady is "Calling Bob" and the phone starts ringing.
Can anyone get their new Command to do this?

PDF missing diagrams

fabbrisd1 - thanks, I'll redownload the PDF COMAND manual this evening. When I first downloaded the ML 350 manual a couple months ago from the web it was missing many diagrams and when I checked a couple weeks ago the diagrams issue had been fixed. Glad they have now fixed the COMAND manual as well! BTW, I know www4 is Europe, but the online interactive manual is tailored for the US and CA markets based on climate control and gauge diagrams in there.

COMAND Manual Still Missing Figures...

I just checked the .pdf COMAND posted on the MBUSA site and it is still missing the vast majority of the figures/diagrams per the below example:
