Been looking at Mercs for a little while now for a suitable upgrade for the family and since the news of our 3rd bub on the way, the C class was ruled out and the ML became the focus.

So we went shopping, found the colour that she wanted with the options that she wanted (heated seats, keyless, privacy tint etc.. etc..) and the following week brought it home.

I've browsing here abit and thought it time to post some shots of the new ML. We've had it for a few weeks and now and I've had the chance to properly wash, clay, polish and wax it. Needless to say, the ML looks stunning after some proper TLC. Here are some pics of my Palladium Silver ML in the land down under













Being our first diesel, we're getting used to the engine sound. Certainly not as quiet as a petrol engine but from the inside the cabin, I can't even tell the difference, it is THAT quiet. Everything on the car is lovely and my wife is really enjoying it. Reality is, it's her car....

There is one thing I wish I had upgraded though and that is the headlights. Gotta admit, my Subie has better headlights then the ones that come standard on the ML250. Thinking about changing the lights to a brighter white if that makes sense....

did you get charged for the privacy glass? because both on my car, and on a demo I almost bought, the privacy tint wasn't mentioned in the invoice, but was on the car. Unless non-privacy models still have a darker rear tint to the front?

Yeah the palladium silver is awesome in full sunlight, which reminds me, I'll need to take some shots with more light.

The privacy tint I got within the Exclusive package (so in a way I did pay for it somehow??). The tint only covers the rear doors and boot space, the driver and passenger seats are clear. I like it that way... at night I can still see out

yeah I got a base 350 with the convenience package, the tint should have been a 500 something option, but it was not mentioned in the proposed invoice for two cars.
unless stock is somewhat darker than the front, and privacy is very much darker.

One thing I'll probably still get a heat/UV film for the front, I can feel the aussie summer sun more strongly than I like on my arm.

The rims came with the pack, part of the Exclusive Package. If you're looking for a 350, it kinda makes the Exclusive Package redundant as most of the options are standard on the upper model (except the Sports Pack which includes the wheels and brakes and front/rear bumper and some others). That's from what I've learnt from the sales guy.

TOLeafs - I assume you are in Australia as different specs/packages apply in other parts of the world (hence these comments only apply to Australian spec).

Exclusive pack is only available on the ML250. To get the similar look on the ML350 you need SP1 Sport Pack (AMG Body kit, 21" AMG Alloys, drilled discs, Rear Privacy Glass, Airmatic Suspension/Adaptive Damping). As Bike Rider says, all the other elements of the Exclusive pack are standard on the Australian model ML 350. You will also find that most ML350's in Oz get ordered with the Convenience Pack(Keyless Go, Easy Pack tailgate, Sunroof). Dealers normally order this on their stock cars.

When i ordered my 350 BT with similar spec as yours, we thought about just getting two so the wife would have same as me... But she insisted she didnt need or want a 3 litre engine. So, i optioned up the 250 to similar spec. And guess what, it was actually dearer at list price......
Wife is still driving her bmw x3.

If my old spreadsheet is still correct, a 250 with exclusive pack and convenience pack is about $109k onroad, including the dealer delivery. How did you go negotiating down that price?

350 BT With sport pack, conv. Pack, tow hitch, front window tint 110 k. So why would you buy 250 unless your only option is the Poverty Pack.....

MLee, not sure if that was a snipe or not, but I understand your stance. But really... come on mate.

I don't think anyone buying a new Benz is classified in the "Poverty Pack". If I said this was our third Benz in the family would it make a difference?

End decision was that my wife wanted a fuel efficient car with loads of safety. Yes plenty out there, but getting another Benz was the way to go.

I don't know if you've noticed yet, but your new ML actually has a serious defect! It looks like they installed your steering wheel on the wrong side of the car! Fortunately the warranty should cover this, next time you visit the dealer - get them to fix this for you before it becomes a bigger problem...

I'm ex-South African, it took me ages to get used to driving on the left. For the longest time I would try change gears with the left hand and end up hitting the door. I still look over my left shoulder when reversing... I guess some old dogs will never learn new tricks.

Regarding the front brakes, does anyone know if it is a two piston caliper?

BikeRider, definately NOT a snipe. Just saying the 250 is no cheaper than the 350 once you option it up similar. Given all the "standard" options on the 350 here in OZ.
Reference to the Poverty Pack just means taking a 250 with no options at all. Never actually priced that, but think about 80+ k. My wife expected the 250 to be maybe 25k cheaper but she still wanted leather, sunroof, wheels ect. And so it ended up similar price to the 350. So, as i said, not much to be gained by buying a 250 unless you go poverty pack, and nothing against those who want or need to do that.
We both love the 350 and when wifes x3 is due to go, i am sure we will end up with two 350's. Unless of course, i can go the 211k for the biTurbo AMG.

You can pay that 210k if you must, I'd be shooting for sub 180k if I were to buy one new. Actually better to pick up one a year old from someone bored with too many toys.

Now THIS would be a real option down the track.

I know a guy with a C63 and it sounds HORN. I haven't had the pleasure of being in or listening to a ML63 on full gas as yet... hopefully something to look forward to.

That sounds odd.....if I remember my ML350 with previously mentioned spec, plus HK sound was about $123-124K as standard on road list price (i paid significantly less that this with discount). I would have expected 250 to be far cheaper!!
