scratch touch up

Got a tiny scratch on just under the rear license plate. The tailgate was raised and hit the opened garage door, before I learned how to limit the opening angel of the tailgate

Anybody has experience touching this up? Is it possible to DIY by getting a small bottle of the paint and touch it up by myself? Or it needs to be done by the dealer?

Any advice will be appreciated!

Crap mate, yeah that is unlucky indeed. Looking at the photo, it looks like it has passed through the silver and into the undercoat? Is MB undercoat black?

I'd get some touch up paint and touch it up myself. Small enough IMO. I think if they were to properly fix it up, the job of spraying that panel may not be worthwhile.

Worst case is if your the touch up goes south, just get it properly fixed?

I think if you have to ask might be best to have someone with a steady hand do it for you. Touch ups can go well if you know how to do it

I have used this on my 740Li, Gl450 and daughter's Jetta. Works great:

Hard to mess up and once you get the hang of it the result is unnoticed. Pretty cheap solution. Not great for a deep scratch. You can wipe out if you mess it up

Yes, it has penetrated the paint and exposed the black undercoat. Will touching up cover it well?

The paint is exact to car and it's so cheap I'd try it first before having it done at body shop
