Distance warning light
Hi All
Just got a 2013 ML 350 put about 200 mi on so far and the distance warning light/alarm sound seems like it's going off for no reason.
Is this a known issue and does it warrant a call to the dealer.
Thanks
Jan

I've got almost 6000 miles on my 550. The warning buzzer/light does occasionally go off for no obvious reason. But it does so infrequently. I haven't been back to the dealer, and may ask about it when I do. Otherwise, the warning works great. Probably saved a rear-ender on a damp city street a month ago. I was looking for street numbers when the traffic slowed suddenly.

There are two possible "issues" - most frequent are K-Band emitters like camra/stoplights and the like - the other issue is possible misalignment/malfunction of the sensor which requires sensor replacement under warranty.

Its happened to me several times now.
Most times its when I am going around a bend, and the car infront merges into a turn lane and slows down. In such cases I do come close to this car which is still directly in front of me, but because I am on steering lock, I miss it with good clearance.
I have had it a few times without any cars at all in front. But again I have had some steering lock on for a bend, and it may read the embankment or perhaps a tree as the obstacle it fears I may hit.
It is a little annoying, but considering the potential benefit it offers, I am happy to live with it.

Thanks for the replies. I have the feature on my E63 which has Distronic plus and never have false alarms with it. I'm just going to keep an eye on it. It's not enough of an issue for me to bring it in...yet!
Again, thanks for the replies.
