Tire damage

I just had a flat tire on my ML350 2013. I am puzzled as to why the TPMS did not warn me on time. In fact the first warning I received was after the spare tire was installed! And it seems my 20in Conti Contact LX Sport is damaged beyond repair so I am considering replacing only one tire since the other 3 have little more than 4000km.
Too bad the TPMS did not work, it would have saved me big $.

I recently had a flat caused by the shank of an arrow going thru the tread. I do not have TPMS but the standard tyre pressure loss warning came on very quickly. Pity was I was still doing 100km/h and was entering a long bridge where stopping was not possible for 500m.

So the tyre was knackered but thats life. The annoying part was Pirelli did not have any stock saying they will not be importing them for another 3 months. They offered me a pair of all seasons, but I believe they should only be fitted in a set of 4.

Fortunately a bloke in Sydney had some originals as private imports.
