Making a weird noise on startup. Please help!

If you read the posts in this thread, you will come to the conclusion that you'll need to replace the cam chain tensioners and more importantly, have check valves installed on the circuits feeding the tensioners. These tensioners are hydraulically-operated. When the engine is shut off, the circuits lose pressure. It takes a few seconds after re-starting the engine before the tensioners pump up again, hence the clatter.

Flipping noise when starting
I have the same problem with my 2013 ML350 and I talked to my buddy , he’s a Mercedes’ mechanic working for The dealer so he told me it’s the timing chain . Basically it’s the chain inside the engine that needs to
be replaced . That chain runs the whole engine. I hope that helped

was the problem resolved? If so, can someone send me info so that I can possibly get mine fixed as well. I have a ML350 2014 with the same noise at start up that is mentioned within this thread. Please help. Thank you

Had couple of other minor issues addressed as well, now she's tip top.
Did the noise ever return after fixing said issues. Ive had my ML for a year and this noise is about to drive me nuts. Please reply if you see this comment.
