Besides Keyless-go, what costs $650?
Aloha everyone,
I checked on Edmunds.com and they finally have the 2014 MLs that match the ones listed at my local dealer (Honolulu). The thing I don't get is that, at least for the ones listed for Honolulu, as opposed to the ones listed for Maui, the price listed is consistently $650 over that of MSRP, taken from mbusa.com. I triple-checked to verify that I had selected everything listed on edmunds.com, all of which were selectable on the configuration, but it is still $650 more. The only option I saw for that price was Keyless-go, but that is a pre-installed option on the cars delivered here. For example, this is the list for one of the vehicles:
Cinnabar Red Metallic
Almond Beige/Mocha MB-Tex
Brushed Aluminum Running Boards
Keyless-Go
Premium 1 Package
Lane Tracking Package
Parking Assist Package
Rear Seat Entertainment Pre-wiring
Wood/Leather Multifunction Steering Wheel
That, in the configurator, comes to $57,600, but the list price, as well as the price listed on edmunds.com, is $58,250
Can anyone tell me either when edmunds.com or I are missing? When I spec out another matching ML from edmunds.com, I find the exact same price discrepancy. Any assistance in understanding this is, of course, greatly appreciated.

I come up with $57,600 for MSRP on mbusa.com, edmunds.com, and nadaguides.com. Edmunds shows the true market value is over $58k for a Honolulu zip code. Are you looking at the TMV column?
If the dealer is saying the price is $58,250, maybe they have added a "market adjustment" to the price. Or possibly they added dealer-installed accessories that would show up on a separate window sticker (a small one next to the regular sticker). The illumination kit for the running boards is listed on mbusa.com as $625 but it's on nadaguides.com for $650.
The car you listed does not have any special order options on it, but keep in mind that if one does, there is a $250 special order charge. If a special order option shows up on mbusa.com (they shouldn't but sometimes do), it will add in the price of the option but will NOT add the $250 charge so the real MSRP is $250 higher than whatever it shows.

balticgreen, thanks for your response. I've noticed that, for the GLK class, everything matches perfectly, but not so much for the MLs, although they just got here. I have seen a reference to a Hawaii surcharge, so that may be it as well. That car is still pretty nice and the price isn't too bad. My wife and I are still going round and round between a new GLK and ML.

I'm not sure, but we've been planning on getting a new car at the end of the year. If I were to wait until the "perfect" car came along, I would be waiting my whole life
Either way, we'll be getting a great car - it's just a matter of whether we feel we need a larger or smaller SUV.

The GLK is based on the C platform. C was new for 2008, facelifted for 2012, and will be all new for 2015. The GLK has been running a year later: new for 2009*, facelifted for 2013, most likely all new for 2016. Also, the GLA will be new for 2015 and I doubt they'll want the GLA and GLK to both be all new the same year.
*The GLK debuted as a 2009 in most of the world. In North America, it debuted in very early 2009 as a 2010 model.

Forgot about the GLA. The MLA and GLA are coming, too.
