First problem - dead battery

2012 ML350, under 15 months old and 14k miles. Drove it to dinner Saturday night with no problems. Parked it about 10pm and 12 hours later battery was totally flat. Nothing was left on. I spent 10 hours charging it at 10 amps and when charged everything appeared normal, except the wipers had moved part of a sweep, stopped and would not work.

Left it overnight thinking I'd take it in this morning, but today everything is fine. Battery held exactly 12.67 V overnight. Wipers now work. Strange!

Do you have Keyless Go?

The good lady has been used to Keyless go in the MLs, and the Audi. One week after getting the A200 (which is not available with Keyless), she shut off the engine but left the key in the ignition. Next morning, everything was dead.

Roadside assist kindly started it, and we drove it for 100km and now everything is perfect. But apparently just turning off the key does not turn everything off.
I presume the A200 works the same as a non Keyless ML.

I do have Keyless Go. All signs now point to me leaving the vehicle without turning it off, which I've never done before.
Edit, Thinking of it though, you have to hit the start button once when you turn the engine off, then everything turns off when you open the door. Not like my M3 where you have to hit the button twice.

For what it is worth, I have noticed a few times with my '12 ML (keyless go) that after turning it off and opening the door, the radio stayed on, along with the instrumentation. As you know, normally, the radio and accessories stay powered for a while until you open the door. In these cases, they did not power down. Note the engine was off, so clearly, I had hit the button. I suspect however that I may have unwittingly (hey, I'm human!) hit it a second time, but without my foot on the brake, the engine did not start, but the systems were otherwise powered.

Not sure exactly what happened in your case Greg, but I can see something like that happening in the cases I have experienced, and I would have to put it down to my error.

I'm hoping that's what it is and not a random defect. I'll report back if it's the latter. Thanks.

I am not really up on keyless go because I do not have it but I wonder if the keys or whatever activates it are within range of the vehicle if that would keep some electrical switch open thus having another small drain on the battery. My service rep tells the story of a customer forgetting to pick up the keys but still was able to get in the ML and drive away.

This has happened twice to me this last week, the 350BT was off but the radio did not stop even when I opened the door. I restarted it, because I was not sure, I had turned it off. I the turned it off again, opened the door and the radio stopped. I guess I will have to make double sure that it is always off.
