Dealer didn't disclose repainting at time of purchase

I need some advice on the best recourse regarding our newly purchased MB that was repainted by the dealer and not disclosed to us at the time of purchase. The repairs were performed by a dealer owned "in house body shop" so they had full knowledge that a panel on our ML was repainted due to transportation damage but still do not disclose this to us at the point of sale.

It wasn't until recently that we noticed some over-spray on the vehicle that we contacted the general manager we were told the truth. According to their records, almost $1k of body repair (most of it was labor) was performed repairing and respraying the rear corner panel our ML because of a transportation dent. During the repair some of the vehicle's original paint had chipped off and thus requiring a respray.

The repairs were also performed hastily as the paint doesn't seem to match correctly and there are a lot of rough areas. we are now asked to bring the vehicle in to have the body work redone and the paint re-addressed. Our biggest concern at this moment is the possible of affect this repair will have on the resale value of our vehicle.

The vehicle was purchase approx two months ago and we have a little over 1000 miles on the odometer.

I would address that concern with them and they should take care of you. I would expect a check or a new vehicle. If your not satisfied contact MBUSA and they will assist you. Works best to be nice.

It will affect resale value, even if it does not show up on car proof there are paint density tools that can tell you in a matter of seconds if a panel has been repainted. I think they should do more ($$$) than repaint the car again.

A gaggle of MB's
Transportation damge/reapir is "normally" not reported on the vehicle record - so it does not "normally" pop up later on CarFax.

That said - you should confirm that with the dealer.

Please check for the closest Mercedes Certified Collision Center - and if within decent distance request the repair/repaint will be done there.
