http://www.safetyresearch.net/2005/0...an-pedestrian/ Just google European Pedestrian Safety Standards and you'll get a lot of hits.
Personally I'm against 'em. Much like telling me knock off wire wheels were a safety problem because the ears on the knock offs would harm a pedestrian. Bull.
That standard really screwed up the front of the SL's and the E350/550's.

This is how Jaguar Addressed the problem. See url above.
That said, the law is absurd imho. About as absurd as outlawing knock off wheel nuts on wire wheels deades ago. Anybody standing that near a knockoff had a lot more to worry about than getting hit by the ears of the knockoff. Plainly put: STUPID laws. Or BEYOND STUPID LAWS.

In one of the images, you can also spot a BMW X3 in front of the M Class. Mercedes may be using the X3 (a key rival to the M Class and one that is heading for a facelift itself) as a benchmark vehicle to compare performance stats with the M.

Mercedes India began sales of the new M Class in May 2012 (with CBU imports) but local production did not begin before October 2012.

I know for sure that my GL must have more than 406 lb-ft of torque.
I reached out to MB about this on IG, and I belive they replied that they were "modest."
But they definitely under-report their numbers.
