Blind spot and district in cold

I have a 2012 ml with the district and blind spot/lane warnings as well. I live in Montreal, quebec (5 hours north of Boston). Since the car was new 2 years ago, when the temperature reaches -10c (~10f) the distronic and blind spot/lane departure warnings all become inoperable. This happens even if the car is clean and not snowing or raining outside.

Do any of you experience this also or do yours work no matter how cold it gets?

Do you also notice the failure of the internet radio/app component of your command?

If the distronic is failing...you should contact your dealer and let them download the error codes. It could possibly be a connection issue in the glass fiber loop in the car.

No other failures....it just seems that once it gets colder than certain temperatures, all these safety systems become inoperative. I was wondering if its normal and if others are seeing this or do theirs work regardless of how cold it gets.

I'm from Calgary and the temperature of -20C is normal during winter and lots of time even come -35C or worse -42C with windchill. I haven't got any malfunctioning issues when comes to blind spot etc.

Well thats pretty conclusive then. I picked up the car in Feb 2012 and it has done this since day 1.

I wonder if it has to do with my 3m clear bra covering the front and mirrors?

Definitely brining it in to the dealer....

The distronic works off of a combination of sensors in the bumper(little round indents) and the large center MB star on the nose of your car. ... You possibly could have a sensor on the bottom of your mirror housing but definitely not in the mirror shell. So unless the clear bra covers any of those components... That should not be a factor.

I know for a fact that issues can be found in the "ring" glass fiber connection system between connectors. It can be quite troublesome and very random in occurrence. It will throw off errors that MB can see during a scan (that can take 25 minutes or more) .. Most likely, your local tech will not be able to diagnose and he will have to send the codes to corporate.... So don't expect a fix on the spot. In fact, about the only way to track down the issue is by disconnecting pieces one at a time to try to duplicate said errors... Then they can figure out where the problem is. (Tell them to look under the passenger seat)

PM me directly for more thoughts.

Cheers
