My wife has a 2014 ML350 with about 2600 miles on it. I don't drive it much, but while doing so the other day I noticed a small pattern of etchings on the bottom of the windshield passenger side. It literally looks like a small cluster of tree branches, all random sizes. The whole pattern is about 6 inches long, 1/2 inch high, and starts at the base of the windshield. You can't feel anything while rubbing it, and it honestly looks almost like an intentional design. Not sure if it was there when we bought it. Does anyone have something similar? Dealer is an hour away so don't want to go if I don't need too, ie this is some factory insignia. Thanks!

Not if it's 6" long. The Daimler sig is only 3"-4" wide.

 

Unfortunately, no - sticker is still intact. I'll try and get a good picture tomorrow. For those from up north it actually looks a bit like frost. Only problem is I live in NC, it's been 95 and humid for weeks now.

 

It is "probably" put there by the dealer - to charge extra for "etch" parts marking service

 

There was a thread on one of these forums recently where the windshield glass had delaminated along the bottom edge. The pattern they observed sounds similar. The windshield was replaced by the dealer under warranty.
