We're bringing you spy shots of the Mercedes-Benz MLC63 AMG (or ML-Coupe AMG or M-Class Coupe AMG -- the jury's still out on that one) straight from an undisclosed spot near the manufacturer's proving grounds.

Lucky for us, the three-pointed star was testing the vehicle for airbag functionality, so it had to remove some of the plastic cladding on the X6-fighter's front end. That allowed us to see the AMG single-bar grille and generously sized air intakes. Out back, there's the expected quartet of exhaust pipes. Orange you glad to see it?

I just don't get it....its just as bug-ugly as the BMW X6.

Looks like a half-breed SUV/sedan...but in a way that just looks dumb.

Likely like the X6, it's so top heavy, you don't get the cornering performance of a sedan, and its so small, you don't get the roomy benefits of an SUV. All maybe that it has going for it is the higher stance that gives the driver better road visibility ahead, and more protection with side-impacts...and that's it, as far as I can tell.

Who would want to drive this? What am I missing?

I've constantly wondered the same thing about the X6 but I see a ton of them on the road so they obviously appeal to someone. From what I've read, the X6 is tuned much better than it's X5 counterpart and performs pretty well on the track. Maybe MB will do the same with the MLC?
