Diesel Engine Waxing
I have just had the fuel wax in the ML350 Bluetec, when parked in the snow for 3 days. I had Alpine blend which is rated to -6C which is supposed to be fine in a relatively warm Australia. But the temp got down to -10C.
So I tried the usual trick of pouring hot water over the engine and fuel lines to warm things up without success.
Next I rang up "Mercedes Roadside Assist" who arranged for a tow truck the next day to take me 70km down the hill to warmer climates.
The tow operator (contractor) rang to say the truck was not available until late that day, so would we mind if he came and started it for me. I said yes!
He came and poured water over the engine, and fired up a gas powered heater. Eventually it started, and all seemed good.
So we headed home and after 289km, the engine died.
The Roadside assist was great giving us a taxi ride home (208km) and a tow for the car to the dealer.
Now the bad news. The dealer advises the pietzo injectors should never have hot water applied as it cracks the crystals inside. New injectors are required at $1732 each times six.
Warranty at MBAP says not their problem.
Has anyone heard of this before? Has anyone seen any warning in the owners manual or elsewhere?
Do I pay up or can I sue?

The cost is ridiculous, get a second opinion as it is hard to believe that all six were damaged.
Would insurance cover this?
Keep us posted and glad I live in Florida

I can see logic since the injector will not go trough normal heating cycle especially if you poor hot water on top of it, where the crystal is, but the quote on the other side is bit extreme.

First, that is a scary repair bill and I hope you get it straightened out... Secondly, if it was a MB roadside "tow operator" that performed this "fix" it should be on MB's tab... Good luck, keep us updated.
