I checked with 2 Mercedes dealers. Both told me the same thing. All problems were resolved with a command reboot and a hard Iphone reboot. That worked for me and others I know. Good Luck!!!

Try network settings reset in settings. Delete iphone bleutooth connections on The car and phone first. Reset network connections in settings general reset networks settings. (You may have to re add your name to the phone name section as it might get erased) then re-pair th Bluetooth. My wife had a Bluetooth issue with her Volt and their forums said this fixed it. Let's see?

I have the iphone 6 and my issues are as follows.
1. bought the 30pin-to-lightning adapter to connect to vehicle. It plays the music now but I cannot control the interface via the center console wheel or any of the dash buttons. I cannot skip songs nor change anything. I do see the display on the screen though but no ability to control anything. The adapter I have is from the apple store, not a third party one.
2. Bluetooth works fine now, I am on ios 8.0.2 now. Bluetooth works flawless.
3. I have not tried the COMMAND reset, I will give it a shot, but will also log a complain to MB USA if that does not work via the link provided here. If anyone has something I'm missing, let me know.

I did not know that was out yet, I was at my local dealer the other day and they told me it's not out yet. hmm, will go again. Thanks, maybe that will be the fix all.

Here's all I can find on amazon says it's genuine Mercedes
that specific adapter won't work for me due to the case I have on the phone. I need a straight pin connection, not angled.
Amazon.com: Genuine Mercedes Media Interface Cable with iPhone Lightning Adapter: MP3 Players & Accessories

Good news!!
I posted this on the W204 thread but figured it would help here as well.
Everyone,
I was about to take the 30 pin to lightning adapter cable back to the apple store to get my refund but I updated my phone on Friday to IOS 8.1.1 and now I have full control of the interface now via the center console wheel and also via the steering wheel and dash buttons. I was out of town when I updated so I tried it again today and all works.
Mine's a 2011 and all I did was buy the adapter cable from the apple store, $39. I did not get a third party cable, figured for something like this use the manufacturer's products. Hope this solves the issues of everyone else with 2012 and earlier.
The only issue is that when changing playlists and selecting a new song from a different playlist, it takes about 3~5 seconds to register that and to begin playing it. Other than that, the forward or rewind options on the same playlists work pretty fast. Way better than nothing working well.

2014 ML350 BlueTec.
Just got my iPhone 6.
Connected well and the text message icon works well. Not able to respond but hopefully in the future. I've always used Bluetooth for my phone with no issues and I always have my iPod plugged in the centre console for seamless music playing. This Comand Unit is what it is, long in the tooth. We are in the process of bringing the new Lexus RX 350 into production. What an infotainment system, makes ours seem pretty antiquated. The navigation and voice control are top notch and the screen is huge. Oh well, Mercedes has always been a step behind in telematics.
