Rearview camera is part of the $4,030 Premium Package. You would think in this day and age that it would be standard especially since the NHTSA is issuing a rule that all vehicles have rearview cameras by the year 2018.

Woah looks different.i wasn't use to the color of nighttime vision but definitely brighter at night.

Thanks to board members who make useful posts, and the forum search function, I was able to locate the above TSB. Local MB dealer will do the update Tuesday.
Here's what the view looked like this morning from the ML. Following that is the view from my '13 Durango R/T. Cause is certainly crappy ML backup lights. Cure sounds like increasing low light sensitivity. Will post a before and after next week.

Is this only for 360 camera? I have regular backup camera, and wondering if I can ask for the same thing to my dealer... thanks in advance,

A couple of posts above I showed a photo of the back up screen with poor resolution. Got nowhere with the software update. Last night the wife was sitting in the grocery store parking lot waiting for me to stagger out (another story). Anyway, she noticed the little icon in the lower right of the screen (see photo). She centered on it, pressed the control button and viola, a scale showed on the right. The scale was at it's lowest point. She dialed it up and the screen brightness increased. Son of a b..... I scoured the OM and Comand manual. There are pictures of the screen with this icon, but I could find no reference to it. I took this video of the screen just now in the twilight. If you look at the very top of the screen you will see the blue hour light increase and decrease. So did I miss this in the manuals, or is it explained in the idiotic onboard manual.

coming from a 2014 E350 that had the LED reversers compared to the standard ML, the difference is big yes, i saw somewhere you can use a LED but you need to match the voltage so you dont get a command message

Hi, drwolf. I am still working on a solution to use the trailer hitch outlet to supply power to a narrow LED light bar mounted directly above the hitch and below the bumper. Unfortunately the test light works with my Durango but not on the ML. To be continued.....

Sorry. I never got it to work. You would think that a 7 pin connector would be the same regardless of brand. I even bought a gismo to test the lights. Showed no problems.

I removed the panel from the interior of the tailgate and replaced the weak reverse bulbs with bright LED bulbs several times, probably five different sets of LED bulbs. Most set off the CANBUS warning. I finally found a pair that work straight out of the packaging, electric polarity matters. It takes about an hour to complete the entire job.. These lights pop right into the socket. I reinstalled the plastic cover after rotating the bulb to make sure the light shined on the road through the rear view camera as desired. Install is really not difficult at all with the right tools: torx screwdriver and interior trim removal tools.

I installed these LED lights into the backup socket, they snap right in an no error codes:

You have to remove the back panel as described somewhere above. Some clips will break and I bought these replacements:

How big is the difference? Does it worth the hassle and money?
Im just thinking to go with LED bar, between 80-120W but if LED above makes noticeable difference I will change my mind easily.

Here they are installed, lights about 25 feet of the ground, not to mention how bright they are to other drivers.

I don't know. I bought many bulbs before finding these. Knowing how car manufacturers use similar parts across their product lines, I would say there's a good chance.

Either your polarity is reversed or you're seeing a ghost voltage. In other words, the voltage you see is a feedback thru something else. As soon as you apply a real load, the voltage drops down to nothing. Only way to be sure is to somehow check the voltage at the lights while they're connected to your power source

I have checked polarity, and tried both ways just for fun nothing helped.

Voltage is there only if I get tranny into R, other wise all connectors are cold.

Will try to measure with load. Now, i really want to make it happen.

Ok, I was wrong, the connector above always has 12V, and I couldn't find backlights connector, really strange so looks like this approach won't work.
Im very disappointed, was hopping for easy solution.

Harrison Reed, can you share some knowledge how to take all plastic covers off and get to the bulbs?
