Head Light Switch Illumination
Can anyone tell me the rationale of every doodad button in the cockpit being illuminated, BUT NOT the headlight switch?????? Or, am I just being bamboozled by my dealer?

Just the knob itself is lit up on mine but not the icons for the different functions. I suppose they want us to be like fighter pilots who can touch anywhere on the consoles and know that that particular switches function is in life and turn it to the positon he wants without looking.
In other words: Got me why they are not lit up.
OR.......You mean to tell me they didn't include the Mercedes hand held flashlight with your car?
Another irksome thing is the switches on the dash for a/c etc have icons scratched into them that some of us can't see and determine what the switch does at first glance.

I think the rational is that everytime you turn the switch you will see where you are flipping to on through the instrument panel. This is also one of my "scratch your head" moments when I got my b-class then the c then the GLK which all does the same and I was not surprised not to see it on the ML. I think even on the S-class and SLS AMG these don't lit up as well.

the best lighting feature I've had on any car was SAAB's "black display" button that shut off all the dash lights except for the speedo. Never seen this on another vehicle, hard to believe no other make adopted it.
