PARKTRONIC Question

My 2015 ML250BT PARKTRONIC has me stumped in one way. It works fine when backing--360 degree etc. The problem is finding a proper curbside parking space. After reading the Digital Manual and the owners manual,I find that when I approach a suitable parking space "that a symbol will appear". The only symbol I have is the "P" that is always on @ low speed. Have tried to use auto parking feature when I located a suitable space. It works ok but no indication is present or any symbol that this parking space is ok.In other words "no different symbol". When I stop to prepare to back in there is no difference on my front screen until I go into reverse & then the screen asks me if I want to proceed with the automatic parking. I then select "YES" and then auto parking begins. What am I not doing or seeing?

Try this: https://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=m...TRONIC+YOUTUBE

Click on the video with the woman in the car looking at the camera. It's the first video in my link. NOTE: I've never used it and probably won't ever. I can't remember the last time I parallel parked.

A little arrow shows up next to the 'P" on the display in front of you.

A gaggle of MB's
I would suggest low speed - turn signal - are necessary steps-to-start...

After reading the manual, (I believe that by default, it looks for parking on the passenger side of the street & you need the left signal on to tell it to look on the driver side for a space.

I have found also, that the little arrow appears only sometimes when there is most definitely a space to be had at the curb... I have tried driving more slowly, or closer to parked cars along the curb, but don't get the little arrow very often. When I do get it the car parks itself flawlessly.

Do you mean to tell me that if you decide that a space is available without the arrow, and you put it in reverse, it will offer to auto park the car even though the car had not found the spot originally?

Barry etc PARKTRONIC Replies.

Maybe I missed an arrow that was there. Thx for all the replies. Find it strange that I couldn't find the "arrow" symbol mentioned in owner info.Maybe I missed that too.

I don't know if I will ever need PARKING feature, but wanted to find out how to initiate it.

I doubt you missed the arrow (really a solid triangle pointing to the Right). As I said... it rarely appears.

I've found it has to be a 'right size' spot. If the spot is too big, it won't work, and if its too small it also won't work.

... and no, it will only work if it finds a spot and you select "ok' when asked if the car should use park assist. You can't force it if the arrow is not lit.

Thx for this and other replies. Too bad this info is not included from MB. I think I have it now.
