Key FOB Not Detected
At parking lot, with key in cup holder, car would start with keyless go and then turn off immediately. Tried this 4 times and finally gave up and pulled the start button.
Put the button back in and tried using keyless go, while it appeared to work, when driving the car, the key fob not detected started flashing and would not stop so I pulled the start button and use the key conventionally.
Car is 4 months old with 4,700 miles. This is so pathetic.

You can easily do this by pressing one of the buttons. You should see a small red LED flash near the top of the key. If you do not see a red light, replace the battery, even if you replaced it yesterday.
Batteries can be old / weak and only work for a short time "out of the box". I bought CR2025 Lithium batteries on eBay for very cheap (10 for $5.34 US)... and you get what you pay for (3 months of use).
For those of you who have already don this, I found interesting information posted on justanswer.com, provided by a self-proclaimed UK MB Tech with 20+ years in the business. The issue inquiry was for an E350 with ignition failure and the gist of the information is this:
There are several points of failure on the car for this problem - the key sends a signal to the EIS (electronic ignition switch), if the EIS detects the correct key then it sends a signal to the ESL (electronic steering lock) to unlock the steering, once unlocked it sends a signal back to the EIS to allow the key to turn & the engine to start.
So in theory it could be the key, the EIS or the ESL.
Key failure is a common problem & it is wise to get a replacement key to rule out any key problems - batteries are only needed for the remote central locking & not needed once the key is inserted in the ignition to turn the key, so batteries would not be an issue.
The main vehicle battery should also be checked to ensure it is in good order - if the battery is flat then recheck after you have finished charging it.
The key is the most common failure, followed by the EIS & the ESL being the least problematic of them all.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The correct/best CR2025 battery for your fob is Maxell/Japan - which is the only CR2025 made in Japan - and is identifiable by it's hologram printed blister pack - in Canada a 5-pack is under CDN$5:
Unfortunately in the CR2025 "retail" - believe it or not - their is a HUGE counterfeiting and product misrepresentation - not only for the correct/best CR2025 - which is why I reference the correct/ONLY genuine hologram package - but for CR2025's it is common to have cheaper alkaline cells marked/sold as lithium - and a whole sh*t storm of poor China/non-Japan batteries
The fob batteries with Mercedes new car production - and at US Mercedes dealers - at $1.60 dealer cost is a Panasonic brand battery - and unfortunately 4-5 yrs ago Panasonic battery production was moved from Japan to Indonesia - the specs for that Indonesia battery are "the same" - but yes - 6 mo useful is all-to-common - like a 6 mo egg timer counting down.
Get the right battery - genuine Maxell CR2025 in correct hologram package - here in the US eBay becomes best at about USD$.50-$.60 each - production stamped in black# on cell face) battery code "51" - means manuf 2015 in January - which right now is "current fresh" inventory - no worries 95% shelf life genuine Maxell CR2025 is 5 yrs.
After several attempts out phone in left jacket pocket and key in right jacket poclet and miraculously the key was detected.
Car drives like a mb should but these electrical glitches are unacceptable for a premium product.
