2015 ML350 Lowered Towing Capacity..WHY??

I have a 2012 ML350 and about to replace it with a 2015 ML350. Same engine, same chassis yet 6600 lbs tow capacity vs the 2012 with 7200lbs. Can anyone tell me why?????? THANKS

6600 lbs is for the 2wd version - 4matic is 7200 lbs
