Key FOB...

So the other day I had to go to Home Depot. I told my 18 year old he could drive. My 15 year old daughter was in for the ride. Anyways, I told him to drop me off at the front door and pick me up at the exit door. I bought my items and walked out and my son is parked by the front door. I signal him to get me and nothing. So I walk to the car and say - uh - why didn't you drive over and get me. He said the the dash said "key no longer detected" I forgot the key was in my pocket as I walked into Home Depot. My son saw the warning and decided to park before the car shut off in the middle of the parking lot. LOL!

There would have been no "shut down" unless he shut it down. He wouldn't have been stranded.

Thats true it would not shut down, but on the other hand if shut down, it wont start until the fob is near the car.

I just don't get it why German cars don't sound an exterior acoustic warning like the Asians.

Glad to hear it would not of shut down. I just recall watching an episode of Top Gear a long while back and they drove a Challenger off and it shut down like 150 yards away. Maybe some cars do shut down so they are not stolen? Not a bad feature in the winter time as you go into a gas station to get coffee - you could keep it running and if someone decided to steal your car they would only get 150 yards away.
