Slow charging from USB port

I've got an Android device and use the USB port to charge my phone. It takes a very long time for the device to recharge. I'm guessing the port has a 1A output. Anyone else has this issue and is there a way to increase the juice?

Sure - plug a cig adapter into the 2nd row console 12V - and run the cable up next to driver's seat..

Buy a slim profile adaptor like this one that you can replace the cigarette lighter itself if you want a more permanent solution

or

go buy a slim profile removable plug-in adaptor like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Port-Mini-Universal-Dual-USB-Car-Charger-Adapter-Bullet-5V-2-1A-1A/331501239610?_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D29906%26meid%3Dfbbb9489c0134ad49da8e9bb48b7ab29%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D301580178282&rt=nc
I have the second option and it works great plus the center console tray can be closed without removing the adaptor.

If you really want to frustrate yourself, take your reg 110v charger and plug it into the 110v receptacle, located at the base of the rear passenger seat! LOL!

I ended up with the very same question. When I got my new '15 ML 350 about a month ago, in bluetooth through the vehicle speakers, my phone calls' volume was really low and the person on the other end couldn't hear me at all. I thought there was something wrong with the vehicle, but I tried my wife's phone and everything was fine.

So I upgraded to a new android phone (Samsung Galaxy S6) and the sales lady at Sprint told me NOT to use the USB port because the charging would be really slow. She gave me the rapid charge cig adaptor charger. I have a radar detector plugged into the cig lighter in the front console. So I plugged this into the 2nd row 12V adaptor right behind the front armrest at the bottom. I just run the thin cord into the front console where I store the phone, charges great and the phone calls sound great on both ends of the call.
