2012 MY command

I'm wondering why in my 2012 ML bluetech the instrument cluster display on the dashboard is not the latest one that we commonly see in all MB now?

Instead I have the old black and white display

It looks like it became standard on MY2013. But since all facelift C class (2012 MY onwards) have it why not the ML? Could it be just a command update?
I asked my dealership and they go by the VMI and are saying there are no updates for my car

I think you answered you own question, no?

(Considering that the hardware itself is different it's not too surprising that a software update is not an option.)

If this is the case then by switching the entire instrument cluster with an updated one will do the trick + some coding as well.
