Soon time for brake pads..oem or aftermarket

I have not yet researched the brake pad options for the ML63 and other than cost I really have no issues with the stock...they have pretty low dusting..are fairly quiet..last good and stop well..can anyone provide experience with the after market options..good , better, as good but cheaper ?

FWIW, I use Akebono ceramic pads on all my other vehicles.

However, I was just searching for replacement pads for my W166 and it looks like they make front pads, but not rear. So, I am searching as well.

Did you ever decide what you were going to do WRT your break pads?

Funny story - My wife drove an IS250 which I used Akebono pads to replace the OEM ones. Her car started making a clunk noise when stopping at low speeds. Not directly after pad replacement, but more like 6 months after. Dealership tried to tell me it was because of the non-OEM pads and they were "slightly" smaller. Dealership couldn't isolate the problem so I guess they just concluded it was because of the Akebono pads. I didn't believe them for 1 second - doesn't make any sense to me. If the pads were the cause of the clunk noise because they we not within manufacturing tolerance (was the dealership said) than we would have heard the noise immediately after replacement. Not 1/2 a year later. We have since sold the car, so the mystery clunk noise was never solved.

When the time comes I'm gonna stick with the oem/dealer install..works fine so I'll stay with stock

How many KM on the 63? I dropped into my dealership today and looked at a GLE 350d loaded with designo and all the other option packages. $92k before taxes! They offered me $40k as a trade, that is not happening.

I think I'd rather wait for a 550 anyway but they apparently haven't started making them yet.
