MY16 GLE 300D: 866 Rear Seat Pre-Wire Required for Lumbar Support?

Today, placed an order for a MY16 GLE300D. Dealer mentioned that 866 rear seat entertainment pre-wiring is needed for power lumbar support for the front seats. I recall seeing 4-way lumbar support as standard. Has anyone heard of this?

Let me get to a more core point - on the GLE300D - you can now choose to add Milti-Contour/Massage to the front seats for $1100 even on MB-Tex - when previously you needed to upgrade to leather for multi - I say this from a "comfort" and "adjustability" standpont - which I assume is your major prime objective here.

RSE pre-wiring is NOT required - that $170 is not necessary unless you want future opportunity to add rear seat entertainment with front/COMAND control.

Please review your decision on the $1100 multi-contour/massage feature - the $170 RSE pre-wiring is smaller bite and has nothing to do with "comfort"/"adjustability" like multi/massage

Keep the beat !

Great info. Standard seats are fine with us. Just didn't want to not have lumbar adjustment. It didn't make sense so thanks for clarifying.

I am not confirming you have lumbar on the passenger seat - I am confirming RSE pre-wire is NOT a requirement

Website says:

14-way power front seats with memory
Standard
Intuitive, seat-shaped controls help you and your front passenger find your ideal seating positions with 14-way power adjustment, including a power lumbar support. A memory system for each front seat recalls three stored seat positions with the touch of a button. The driver-seat memory also includes the power steering column and side mirror positions.

Are you saying that power lumbar support is not included on the passenger seat?

No - I am clarifying what info I have given you - _ GLE's are either at your dealer now, or on the way - so I strongly suggest you follow thru with a look/drive on the actual vehicle - you have time to modify your production order based on actual in-car/demo/experience.

If it was me - I would seriously consider multi-contour since on GLE it doesn't require adding leather - but heck, be open minded, you might want to actually sit in the seat w and w/o - and make your own decision.

Keep the beat !
