I am installing a windshield dash cam on the passenger (right) side windshield and I am having trouble locating a 12 volt source that turns on with the ignition. I initially ran the wire under the trim on the top and side of the windshield and looked for a 12 volt source under the glove compartment by removing the panel on top of the passenger footwell which would keep everything hidden. The only 12 volt source I found was hot even when the ignition was off. Part of my problem is that I have no instructions for how to remove the plastic trim on the interior and no wiring diagrams. The top footwell trim is fairly obvious since it is attached with screws. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Also pictures and instructions would be wonderful if anyone can provide same. Thanks!
Firstly I never used switched power..I leave camera active 24/7 so it records in park mode and since my vehicle never sits longer than a couple three days the battery holds...I took power from a source inside upper console..I unplug the camera power cord if car sits longer
option 1 -remove the console and tap into the rear seat area power outlet..2 torx screws under fore tray rubber map..2 under center storage mat..elevate enough to gain access..this is where I took power for my radar and laser jammer units and added a rocker switch to power off at will
option 2 ..remove passenger end cap of dash and access fuse panel..install powermagic pro power timer module
chase wire from camera down passenger "A" pillar..no need to remove cover
