Wondering what maintenance is like on a ML/GLE
Hi All,
I'm about to buy a GLE 400, and my girlfriend is very worried the maintenance will be difficult and she is suggesting I lease instead of buy. One friend told us we should assume 10% of the value of the car every year after the warranty expires will go toward maintenance, which sounds high even for Mercedes.
So I'm wondering for all you ML owners out there, what has the maintenance been like? After 3-4 years have you seen a lot of issues/expensive problems? Or has it generally been pretty reliable?

No major issues. Minor things all covered by the warranty. I did get 2 things.
1. Prepaid service for 4 years
2. Extended warranty for 7 years -100K
Both are good investments if you plan on keeping the car.
I have both on my 2012 ML (I own it). My 2016 GLE, (Leased) I just have prepaid service.

10% does sound high. That even sounds high for the more expensive AMG models. I haven't had too many MBs that were out of warranty but the very few I have had, I've never had a major issue with them. I've never had a major issue with any of my MBs.
Look into buying an extended warranty early when it's much cheaper if you do plan on keeping it.
