2012 ML350 HID resistor install question.
Hello guys,
I recently installed xenondepot Xtreme hid kit and light was flickering. Ordered resistor kit and now it is working properly. I read online that resistors get really hot and when I installed and turned on the light for 5 minutes, resistor was REALLY HOT.
I read online that people recommend installing resistor on the body frame. Making a hole on the body frame. Will that cause rust in the future? Also, if there specific area where making a hole is recommended?
I really never made holes on the metal body frame before and was wondering if I could get some tip from experienced installers and DIYers.

The resistor should have a heat sink build in already, mounting on the body frame will provide an addition heat sink but it is not really necessary. However, it is a good idea to secure it onto a fix object so it doesn't move around. I would try to keep the resistors away from any painted surfaces, wires, plastic parts or rubber in order to prevent scorching, burning or melting which can cause a fire. Try to keep it away from any electronics and heat exchanger as well.

Thanks for the reply G man.. but that's actually my question. I used multiple zip ties to hold the heat sink in place. I used the zip tie on the both ends of resistor's wire harness so it doesn't melt. I don't know how to attach the heat sink to the body frame. What do I have to use to hold it in place? everything will melt down due to the high temperature... As of now, zip tie is holding in place without making contact with any painted parts or plastic parts.
