need to add antifreeze to my 2012 ML350 4Matic. Is there an approved store brand I can go buy?

I believe Zerex G-05 is approved for MB cars.
However, why not just go to MB dealer and buy one gallon? Price difference can't be more than $10 or $15.

You may want to confirm with what is in your vehicle now and use identical spec!. mixing fluids can have some unpleasant undesired effects. don't know MB enough but in Jeeps (Had about 6 Grand Cherokee's) coolant fluids could change from year to year and mixing can get really messy. (like sludging and foaming).

Make 100% sure you get the right stuff.

^ This. Merc has their own concoctions (and there are several for various vehicle models) that are made to work with the specific materials used in the cooling system of the specific cars. The composition and additives will prevent oxidation and scale formation, prevent bacterial growth, lubricate the water pump bearing seals and theromostat, etc.) for about 12 years IIRC... so if you're a tad low you probably want to top it off with the specific coolant for your vehicle.

groale, if all you need is just a little bit of coolant, you can add distilled water.

... or simply drive up to the service department at your dealership and they will top it off on the spot with the proper coolant at no charge (at least that's what the service advisors at the dealership that I use do for their customers). Adding distilled water is going to both raise the freezing point and reduce the anti-oxidation properties of the coolant, which may not be insignificant if you need a fair bit (if you're getting a low coolant warning, you're probably down about a liter).
