ML 350 Bluetec - Engine light, Adblue heat sensor
Just picked up a used ML 350 2012 a couple of weeks ago. Just the other day I noticed the engine light came on when I started it up that morning. This morning I went to my local non-authorized dealer to just check up on the faulty codes.
205B-22 Temp sensor, Adblue tank
- Malfunction
- Intermittent
Googled it and it seemed to be a pretty common fault in these cars. Then I read that it was like 2-3000k dollars to get it fixed at a Merc-dealer with a complete change.

Found a non-oem part at http://xemodex.net/ww/products-for-mercedes/
but not sure if I need to change the whole part or just go with the heating element?
What do you guys think?
Got no warranty left on it.

Talk to your dealer.
They are the real deal. I opted for the return / repair service. It took me about 3 hrs all total to get the tank out, heater out of the tank, the rebuilt back in and rolling down the road. My total costs with DEF was about 1/3 what the dealer wanted.
I am in Canada my local dealer would not support under emissions warranty.
Our 2012 ML 350 with 69.5K miles on it experienced what feels like limp home mode. Non-Mercedes repair shop diagnostic says Code U42 requiring part number 166 471 07 75 (RS preheater repair kit). Cost- $1900. I'll take this to my local (Boise, ID) Mercedes dealer for a diagnostic to confirm.
What's the outcome of this issue thus far? The most recent post in this thread was May 2018, and now it's August 2018. Is the EPA mandate being honored?
Thank you in advance for your responses.
