theres ways around this probably. I know in my C class you can adjust this option in the variant coding program, my c300 4 Matic kills it in curves now i don't have the ****ty cut off in corners.
I just need to find the one with Designo package I guess lol.

Get the ML550, its a V8, what all SUVs should have. I have a 2015 ML350 which I purchased CPO before I found out about the 550. I am satisfied with the ML350, and feel the power is adequate even after having an Infiniti QX-70 . I just like the idea of a V8 and also the fact that you they no longer make it in the standard ML/GLE. The 550 has the power but doesn't look like a hot rod.

So update drove the ML 350 Bluetec yesterday and it was nice has a lot of torque but I'm unsure about the diesel. The ride on air suspension was very bouncy, sport mode helped quite a bit. It was super comfortable and very spacious.
I for sure am going to test out the ML350 gas version today and the 550. Form just the first ride I can say I liked it a lot better than the Audi Q5.

Get one as loaded as possible w air suspension, HK, active curve, trailer hitch, if you parallel park a lot I understand the park pilot works well (I've never used mine). I have 265/45 R20's tires and they are crappy in snow (the car floats), so I have 19" winter tires & wheels too. I once was passing someone, who wouldn't let me get in front of him, I slowed down, so did he, so I tromped it to 191 km/hr and got by the bugger. Just make it worthwhile if you are keeping it a long time.

It should be the other way around. The spring suspension should be bouncy not the airmatic version.

I don't know it just felt bouncy but when is sport mode it really stiffed up the ride and handling felt better. I'm really not used to SUVs I've always driven sport cars so it was a totally different experience.
I liked the 350 gas model, it was great but hands down the 550s power is nuts, I think I'm going to shop around for a 550 if I can get a good deal. That thing has power. For a really heavy SUV it is super quick. The one we drove was white on white designo, if it was black on black or palladium silver it would of been bought yesterday.

SUV has a much longer suspension travel than you C class, it will feel more bouncy. I am a sedan man myself and hate driving SUV, even the ML550. The only SUV I test drove that handles nice was the Porsche Macan Turbo, but the maintenance cost on that SUV is nuts, average about $4800 for the first 4 years.

How's your hunting now.
I would go either 550 or 63, because it'll make you unhappy for a long time if you go with lower power and then want more. Going beyond your expectation is always a good thing, if you can afford it.
Then, if you are going beyond to get V8s, definitely get it as fully loaded as possible, which means more importance of a warranty because more stuff might break.
Out of all the options, at least get the HID and Driving Package. Option 233 ACC/distronic plus is a god bless. Also the rumor is that a tow package raise your resale value on an SUV. I have not owned enough SUVs to verify this.
Lastly I'm not so sure about the active curve if you are not driving it all the time, though. For me it's not a must-have.

Marco the lexus is a glorified toyota. Everytime I sit on one and test drive a new model it still feels "japanese". It does not have that german feeling. Also the lexus is more tuned to the comfort zone too cushy and floaty. The ML is the sweet spot between BMW and Lexus and if you want to get a BMW-ish ride get an ML with airmatic and push the sport button. It will lower the car , stiffens the steering wheel, reduces trottle lag (in my 350 it does this) and helps in cornering but the soft ride becames really stiff so stiff that it is stiffer than my C300 4matic with sport suspension. With regards to the capability of the 350 engine I do not have any problems with the pickup and I find it perfect for the ML. For sure the 550 blows the 350 performance wise but you need to ask yourself if you will really need all that HP with a 2 ton truck. I would rather find a E63 AMG estate if I want a V8 with massive space behind the back then slap a 20" vossen rims on it and you are ballin.
One other thing make sure you get at least an ML with light, comfort and sport package (with airmatic).

The wife and I test drove the 2017 RX350 a few weeks ago, it drove and rode every bit as nice as our ML, very German like. The interior of the RX was also very nice, some cheap materials but not many, hated the mouse control. Also hated the exterior design, especially the grille. Around $15K cheaper than a new GLE. The new Lexus is not your Grandpa's Lexus anymore.
