Own a 2012 ML350 I purchased new. This just started happening and my connection looked exactly like the picture in the service bulletin.

I recently performed this repair, the connector was completely burned, I just cut the bad pin out and used a waterproof butt splice for the wire to go around the connector.
One tip, when you take the carpet out, it's heavily padded and reinforced, if you rotate the carpet inwards by pulling upwards at the edge touching the center console it comes out relatively easily. It does not pull out easily if you try to pull it as you naturally would being outside the car and pulling it towards yourself.
