Shaking 2013 ML 550

Have a 2013 ML 550 4 Magic. Around 60k miles, my SUV starts shaking a bit at a stop. Eventually the engine light comes on and its running like it lost 4 cylinders. I limp it home , ride my bike to work a few days while I read blogs on what might be wrong. Common diagnosis is broken motor mount or transmission mount. Some fool says your tranny fluid is low probably so I run to Mercedes dealer and buy some fluid. Little did I know you can't just add transmission fluid because the cap is sealed. No wonder that parts guy had a smirk on his face .After I get back go online and discover all this , I decided to take the car for a service.Funny but other than a slight shaking the car is running fine ,not like the night a few days before hand. They trick me into buying services up front and a week later they tell me I have a problem on #6 cylinder . They tell me it's going to cost $450 to heck it out with a bore scope and a leak down test. I told him hers nuts and he drops it to $150.Two days later I get a call and he tells me it's leaking down 80% on number 6 cylinder. They need to replace the cylinder head on that bank at a cost of $16,000. As my head hit the roof he said he would get back to me after talking to Mercedes Corporate. He dropped it down to $3750. I said no , he dropped it down to $3,000.This service writer is pissing me off royally. I go down there he tells me I would drive that car far. The car has 76,000 miles on it now and when it starts to run rough , I turn off the ignition and restart it ....runs fine again.

Can anyone tell me straight up what would be the cause of this phenomenon. I don't buy that it's a bent valve , or a sticky valve because restarting it clears it . Apparently this is not an uncommon problem on the 4.6 L V8 . Of course Mercedes won't admit it ....Can someone please shed some light on this so I can make an educated choice of what I'm going to do with the car. Thank you ...Paul

Estimated repair went from $16,000 to $3750 and then down to $3000.
It doesn't pass the smell test.

Did they run STAR diagnostics? were there any codes?
