can anyone tell me if a 285 tyre will fit a ml 250 (166) as im wanting to go from the standard 255/55/19 to 285/35/22 thanks

You'll be ok as far as overall diameter goes. Just make sure you pick a rim with the proper offset/width

Thanks mate,yeah offset is good i just wanted to check that the width of the tyres 285 would fit

Go to www.tirerack.com. Choose shop by size, then pick a tire and see what the specs are for it. Then cross-reference those specs with what you want to install. Important specs are section width, tread width and what width of rim they took their measurements with. I always use the OEM tire as a baseline.
I'm a wide-tire junkie, their calculator has never let me down to date.
