Unhappy 2012 ML350 air nozzle vinyl paint peeling off

I am so annoyed! My 2012 ML350 air nozzle vent which is just above the radio has started to peel off. It looks like MB has used a cheap paint or it looks like a vinyl wrap. What best could be done? The part costs a whopping $242 and OEM is about $200. I then have to pay for the labor as well. The part number is 166-830-65-01-2A17.This is with the ambient light. Any ideas what can be done?

Sounds almost as if you had inadvertently handled the vent while your hands were contaminated with bug spray or something. Only other time I've seen delamination like that is in two separate convertibles in Florida. I guess the sunlight does something to the plastic and all the interior plastic looked like crap

Well I don’t remember any and I would have certainly taken precautions if that was the case. It is actually peeling so bad that I can see a thin crack on the air nozzle just next to the COMAND to the left. My 2007 accord is in perfect condition. Luxury and the price they charge is a joke! It is more of a status symbol nd nothing more. What else can be done? Do you think scrapping off and then painting is an option?
Any ideas guys?

Pretty funny comparing a 2012 ML to a 2007 Accord...why don't you just get another vent and replace the damaged one? eBay, car-part.com or a dozen other sites should do the trick.

Dunno 'bout funny, actually more like sad. 4 times higher selling price than an Accord for a vehicle that no longer fits the "Built like a brick-house" rep.
