One month in and no surprises or issues. Honestly no difference than before that I can see. No regrets to date.

Ml bluetec
Dpf egr blutec

I have been lucky with MLS. So far this is my 3rd diesel benz and probably the last one I should have got gas one.
all 3 had same problems : EGR, Oil cooler leak, Bluetec system. And I know at least 7 ppl that went trough exact same repairs.
CDI was the only smooth run but got time to replace.
Oil cooler gusket leaks every 3-4years about 70-100km(statistic) .That's a big job and takes about-15- 20hrs (find someone real good). If yours didnt leak dont worry it will ..
Bluetec- it's got way to many components to think about: spray, heater, level, tank sensors . And they usually break one at the time. The repair will take about 100-1500$ every time . The simple solution is just DELETE it . Add emulator module that disables the BT completely and never top the tank. Pass emission. Make sure to avoid cheap modules and ask for worranty.
DPF EGR blutec Cat NOx delete-
After having repairs on previous MLs$$$ I said enough and this time deleted ALL . They got ECU reprogramming where EGR stays open , Bluetec and DPF and NOx disables. Where all can be set back to work at any time. Did not remove any pipes.
when EGR works it carbonized air manifolds so much that at 100k you can't fish middle trough . But all gets cleaned when oil cooler leak gets repaired.
I got this w166 ml BT with 80k hoping to drive for another 80 without looking under hood. Since the other 2 w164 had started challenges at 160-170k. Yes I drive many kms. .
My Hope was over a few weeks after picking it up.
Blutec looked at 10 starts . Oil cooler start dripping oil on driveway. Vacuum motor knocking at low RPM (word noise) replaced..
And now is the best part : Dropped power while driving with white smoke for about minute. Since then boost doesn't come up and it takes minutes to get 50km/hr NO POWER .No engine light no codes and no boost. Turbo actuator works ,no broken pipes . Nothing shows the problem.
ANY Thoughts?

Did this start shortly after you deleted everything, or much later?

FYI, if you left the DPF in the exhaust circuit, it will eventually clog up. Is it possible it already is blocked? I imagine that the tuners delete the pressure-monitoring before and after the DPF after they tune it out, which would then explain the lack of any CEL's.

A good remap leaves it operable just that the perameters are widened so not to give a light .

I guess so, but doesn't that essentially come out to the same thing?

Dpf still in place but disabled. I drove about 3k.and now it's in limp mode. Do you think it's best for dpf to stay working?
my last w164 I just deleted bluetec and pass emission.
this time w166 one of bluetec parts went for 10 start so I wanted to do same. But was convinced to tune out EGR NOX DPF and Bluetec all at ones. But kept all parts in.

I know very little about these Bluetec's (as was thoughtfully pointed out to me by someone on this site *rolls eyes*), but it almost sounds as if your DPF is blocked. When you state DPF delete, you sure you don't mean DEF, which is the liquid injected into the exhaust?

Living together....freakin' hilarious coming from numnuts himself. He's alienated the Devil himself. I swear...

Well, 24 hrs after the mods (which cost $1400 CAD before taxes), no surprises of any kind. DPF/DEF and EGR delete. No weird smells, no black smoke that I can see. No check-engine lights. So far, so good.
this all done in ecu .did they include pipes?
I did the same but now my ml went Into limp mode with co engine light and no codes.

Yes, they used the flanges (connectors) from my DPF to create the bypass tube

No, not gone. Just removed from the exhaust. They said they can reinstall the flanges on my DPF (which I kept) and reinstall the DPF on my truck if I need to.

Update:

I had my wife drive ahead of me yesterday on the highway and asked her to floor the accelerator to see if there was any black smoke. Nothing whatsoever.
Other than increased engine noise on start-up in sub-freezing temps (for about a minute), there is no down side to these mods. I'm very satisfied with the results.

The fact that Numnuts disagrees is simply the icing on the cake.

Strange that I can't get your link to work, but I got on the site and found it just the same. Only issue I have with these guys is that you have to remove the ECM and send it off. So, $800 USD + shipping there and back and you still have to have your DPF bypassed. It cost me $1400 CAN (about $1100 USD) to have the ECM reprogrammed and the DPF bypassed. You don't mention in your sig where you're from. Canada or US?

Hey Peter,
Finally got Dave to do my dpf/egr delete and at the same time replace my oil cooler which started leaking with the newer heavy duty one last month, cost a pretty penny to do everything but I am in awe how the truck drives now and the milage. I drove to vermont today and came back the same day and it is the first time ever I had a range of 1350km after driving already 100km following my tank fill up... 6.6l/100km including driving around town with stop and go traffic and I can still pull a 7000lbs trailer and constant 120kph on the highway. I thought my 2000 jetta tdi was good but this truck is now a keeper.

Hello, may I ask where you did the mods? Same place as Peter? My 2013 ML350 Bluetec is running great at the moment, but as soon as I get problems with the NOx sensors or the SCR system I'll go with the delete route. You can PM me the information if you'd prefer.

Peter, If you could chime in as well, that would be great. I'm located in Casselman, about 1 hour west of Montreal and 30 mins east of Ottawa.

I brought my truck to Mecanique Etoile, about 30 minutes south of Mtl. (450) 708-5151

Mtlw166, I never saw that mileage estimate on my dash. Mind you, the readout isn't gospel, but please report back with actual mileage figures when you've put some mileage on her.

sorry don't monitor my personal email much, work email keeps me busy enough. I have not done the delete yet, I have a shop lined up I'm just waiting. I don't currently have any problems with mine just planning ahead, I have been lucky my wife drives 30+ miles a day to work interstate which keeps the temps exhaust temps high to burn off soot that clogs DPF. I also have all the records from previous owner who had the NOX sensor, AD Blue Heater, full exhaust replaced under warranty at 65,000 miles. I have also read other information on our OM642 that basically relates most common problems on this engine (oil cooler seals, swirl flaps, EGR clogging, DPF problems, etc.) back to oil change intervals. I have begun to change mine every 6-7k miles hoping that will prolong the any issues.

I'm close to that milage before deletes, I believe this to be very close to accurate. I live 550 miles from my home town St. Petersburg FL, made the trip and still had 1/4 tank left upon arrival.

Just WOW!

We get about 800 Km on a tank, but we've never done a long drive. I doubt I'd get your numbers, but it would definitely make a difference.

Watch your rear end on the roads here in Kebecistan with an electronic device in your hands. First offence is a $500 fine and a few days license suspension

I can tell this pic is from FL. First time I realised that the garage door wasn't insulated, I was shocked LOL

We have a home in Cape Coral FL. Everything's so different. Gray water source, no floor drains in the house or garage, looking twice before opening the patio doors to make sure there's no alligators or snakes on the lanai....Good times

Denysckss, i know this is old thread. But did you solve this? Was the dpf clogged?? I now have the same situation on my 2013 350BT. The car lost power 7 weeks after remap. Adblue, egr, and dpf coded away form the car, but dpf still in the exhaust. The car run fine after remap, until now.. No power. I also suspect te dfp.

Hello Peter2772000. I know this is an old thread.

But i have done exact same as you on my 2013 350BT. My car runs fine, now issues. But on idle i have a stronger exhaust smell after removing dpf. Do you also have this odor? No smoke, no smell inside car, but a bit stronger odor / smell behind form the tailpipe. (Cat is still in place)

Do you also have this?

Regards
