it doesnt work like that.. the ILS system auto-highbeam only works when your in an area thats like pitch black, like no street lamps or street lamps thats far separated
from eachother. Sometimes it turns on it lighter spots, but dimly lighted. Speed has 0 factor in it work and its not even adjustable. I dont know if everyone does this but just drive with the "A" activated in the instrument cluster

There has been conflicting information about that:

https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-w...t-problem.html

If you do a search, there seems to be a debate over whether it can be set at 20 or 30mph. Either way, the system sucks when compared to any other car that I have had in the last five years. My wife's current Q7 is light years ahead in performance on the high beam assist, as is my GMC Sierra crewcab...

Well you have to keep in mind it is the latest greatest of the time, and remember newer cars have newer things. Me personally i love it, well kinda a downgrade since the E350 i had, had standard LED's but without active curve, but hopefully next car i'll get the ILS again

Not so....! When going to the cottage, the back dirt road will not allow the (A) selected high beams to come on unless I'm driving hard! (> 40kms/25mph). MB's manual states it somewhere... LOL! The only way to get the high beams turned on at SLOW Speed is to select the Manual Lights mode and flick the lever between High & Low.... 2015 ML BT .
I, also, am curious as to whether the Auto setting can be speed-adjusted?
