Ac compressor - solenoid replacement

Anyone done AC compressor solenoid replacement?

The A8303100 (Denso 6SEU16C) will only kickin after few minutes from starting the car (ac button pressed). Seems common problem with Denso ac compressor also have had similar problem on 2010 E350 where sometimes the AC works (cold air) sometimes not but if you rev the car high enough the compressor will start working. I am thinking my W166 2014 ML350 started experiencing the same.

Doing some research online, this intermittent AC compressor problem is common with Denso compressors used on MB, VW, Toyota... and can be fixed by replacing the solenoid valve.

Any advise?

I haven't done it but I had reached out polar bear inc which provides these solenoid valves for replacement to fix such issues and they are really helpful. The main issue is that you need to find the correct type of solenoid valve which might requires you to take the old one out but you will need to worry about contamination. Best practice is to take the compressor out and do the work on bench, but it's definitely doable with the compressor in place especially the ML gives a lot of space underneath. You just need to make sure 1 get the refrigerant system completely discharged otherwise the valve will shoot out like a bullet. 2 make sure no debris get into the compressor otherwise you will destroy it. Also after the work you probably need to figure out how much oil to replenish, since the valve is located on the bottom side and you will likely get a lot of oil drained from there. Just my thought.

Agree geniushanbiao will need to completely discharge the refrigerant, the shop will do, but need to see if someone has attempted to replace the solenoid only. The ML indeed has lots of space as built to fit the V8 500/63. Best option is to remove the compressor completely and replace the solenoid indeed, probably check the solenoid part number while installed, order replacement then do the job.

I'd suggest you give the system a complete evacuation, vacuum it down and then recharge with correct amount of refrigerant and add 2oz oil see if it works. This solved my problem completely while I suspected the solenoid valve as well at the beginning.
