I got a android head unit from 4x4 ca, all works great but there is this icon on the left of the screen and it is topmost icon which is on all screens and it is in the way. Does anyone know any way to make this hidden. Please see picture for reference.
There is one display that allows carplay only but no android or touch. This is the 2nd gen as the 1st gen was a bit oversized and blocked the air vents as this is a bit smaller and does not block it. Anyway I love it as you can do whatever you want but there is this stupid colozied button that is in the way and when you open the doors then that button slides open automatically with an ovely picture of the car with the door opened. I just wish that that button could be hidden or invisible.

i ordered mine online and waiting for it to arrive. After installing it i will definitely let you know if i managed to remove this button which i agree with you about how annoying it is.
As for the unit, it is awesome. That button though I contacted 4x4.ca and they said that there is no way of getting rid of it. I wish I would know the file that this icon belongs to and perhaps do a transparent icon and not blue red icon. There must be a way as maybe making that icon behind the foreground window. Someone with android programming could potentially help.
thanks. I found "suv" option. but picture of car info still shows sedan. go figure.
If there was only a way for the factory NGT to go into AUX everytime you enter the android system. Annoying that to listen to radio you need to switch to radio. While in android the buttons my dash do not active anything unless i am in the mercedes screen.
did you get the on screen speedometer to work?

Yes speedometer works, radio automatically changes to android there is an autostart option for the sound in aux mode. But I have the harmon/kardon system which has optical.

Which menu has the autostart option for sound in aux mode? i was clicking around having a tuff time finding it.
If u have HK system and if u have aux enabked then it will autosense incoming android audio usuallly takes 3-5 seconds and it auto switches to that input.

Off topic if anyone curious I put the android GPS antenna behind the rearview mirror housing wjere rain sensor is. Fully hidden.
I've upgraded my unit from the android 7.1 to this android 8 model and the user interface is much improved. On my old model I could connect sound via the bluetooth from my Comand system and I didnt have to run wires to my center console. i miss that feature.
My big issue is that when I use android apps the screen randomly roggle to the Benz Comand system and then goes back to the app which is annoying when streaming conten . Anyone have the issue and solve it?
i also am trying to get Netflix to load and am not having luck installing it.

the original launcher that it comes with has a button for NTG mode
but I have changed the launcher to Car Launcher Pro. You can customize buttons but I can’t create a button for NTG mode. Have to go to the olde launcher to go to NTG mode.
how can I go from the new launcher to NTG mode. Does anybody know ?

ignore Tamster. His “friend” can’t code these Chinese android units, let alone change the fabric of Car Launcher Pro.
Two ways to do this
if you bought your android unit from the right place, and is a reputable seller (and not one of the ****ty copy cat units) simply hit the “favorite button” on the joystick and that will return you to NTG mode no matter what launcher
if you bought your android unit from a non-reputable, ****ty seller, hit the “Disc” button until the unit switches back to NTG mode, and then to get back to the Android side, just tap the screen.
the choice is yours....depending on which unit you have 😁

search the site -- multiple threads/pics/diy articles. There's 4 bolts. You have to take the console out, or lift up to run underneath.
