Sunroof Lube, 2 different kinds?
from reading on these forums it seems for the ML350 W166 the proper MB sunroof lube is part # 001 989 46 51, which is about a 1 lb tub of the lube with a fairly high MSRP, but at least it is pretty much a lifetime supply.
i went into my local dealer to inquire about the price, and they actually said they use something different, they gave me part # 000 989 36 60 and said it was $75 CAD. it is not a tub, it looks like a small eye dropper with a clear liquid in it. I thought the tub was going to be a rip-off, MB was able to go above and beyond with a tiny eyedropper of liquid lube at a high cost! lol
Does anyone know the difference between the 2? are both the proper ones to use? looking into the eyedropper one i found some threads talking about using tiny drops of that stuff to help prevent squeaks in plastic parts, so it doesn't make sense to me to use it on the sunroof.
my sunroof squeaks when closing so i want to get it lubed, but want to make sure to use the right stuff.
also, if anyone knows any places to buy the right lube in Canada id appreciate the info (hoping for a cheaper online source), ill probably also post in the Canada forum once i figure out which lube to get.

Thanks for your question... sunroof lube and door seal lube - same product for both things... in a "grease" it is a combination of PTFE/PFPE .. and in the "eyedropper liquid" it is PFPE (also know under DuPont name Krytox).

I personalty bought full jar and use it on different cars, there is no expiration on the jar, but I also wrapped the jar in plastic just to minimize air access.

I have done a search previously on amazon.ca even for krytox, but the results are even more expensive than what the dealer was quoting me. an eye dropper worth of Krytox on amazon is over $100 CAD
@DanD i was aware of the small size ECS sells since people have mentioned it, but with USD to CAD conversion and shipping costs it isnt really worth it for me to order it here to canada. with shipping on ECS it would be about $40 USD for that tiny amount, then depending on the conversion rate i would be looking at around $55 to $60 Cad.
Like you, id rather pay a bit more but get the big tub of the stuff.
