W166 Android touch screen

Hi,

Just came across this video,
Seems like there is an option to upgrade W166 command center to touchscreen. I have a 2016 GLE350, and would very much like to convert to touchscreen,
Has anyone tried it?

Yes, I did -- there's several posts on the forum about it. It's not an oem upgrade -- it's switching out the screen and running a new wiring harness.

You have to go aftermarket. The only one that I've seen in person and that works quite well is https://4x4shop.ca/product/mercedes-...i-bluetooth-2/. No affiliation - just an honest opinion.

Buyer beware though -- the units now ship with UI 3 (the green background, and it is FILLED WITH BUGS AND NOT STABLE). If you're going this route, you have to ask the seller (preferably the ones with decent tech support and not the Chinese runaround nonsense) who will preload UI 2 (the blue OS) on the unit before they ship to you, OR ask for the download files and be knowledgeable about loading firmware etc.

the UI 3 is a POS and a sorry excuse. UI 2 is stable.

Source: I've used them both extensively, and have stayed on UI 2

The 4×4 Shop units I previously linked are designed in and supported from Canada (the only thing they do overseas is the manufacturing) and are 100% stable. They integrate with the NTG 4.x/5.x Comand system in the car and you can use the jog / shuttle wheel in addition to the touch screen. They are running Android 8.1, and the screen background is blue.

No, the link is to the green UI (UI v3). This is what they call "green". It is unstable, problems with the aux input automatic switchover, and the " Fav" button on the joystick doesn't switch back to NTG mode. The blue ui (ui 2) is at least semi-stable.

Trust me. I have had both OS's on 2 different screens in my truck.

So - the "green" UI is the "sky" colour? Thanks - that's good to know. I haven't heard of any issues with the 4x4 Shop units, but other than over a weekend on a couple of friends' cars, I haven't extensively used them myself either.

yeah "green" is the NEWEST os. I'm going off of how the Chinese programmers refer to them. It may be from a canadian storefront, but the tech support is ALL China. No matter which unit, what store, when you get into the nitty gritty programming and menu system, they are all Mandarian. It's a couple of programmers in China that sell the screens to various outfits here. IE -- 4x4, Roadtop Direct, etc...

hello,

Has anyone updated the ZLINK APK on their unit? Is it as straight forward as just installing the APK to replace the older one? I currently have a MEKEDE N600 Snapdragon unit that came with ZLINK version 3.5.30 and I just downloaded version 3.5.57.

Any help greatly appreciated.

how about why are you upgrading. Give more context. This isn't a guessing game.

Hey we47b1me what is your problem? The very ever first time I posted on this forum 2 months you immediately attacked me for no reason. It's almost as if you waiting for newbies to post to bring your f..ing wrath on them . Let me remind you that a senior member already warned you to tone it down on another post you attacked me as well. YOU ARE NOT A SENIOR MEMBER ON THIS FORUM!!

I just raised a question to see if anyone has successfully upgraded ZLINK. I don't have to tell you why I am wanting to do it, at all.

So if you don't have any constructive ideas or help for newbies or any other member of this forum for that matter, I suggest you go suck your thumb and reflect on your pathetic life that is making you get mad for no reason.

Ok. I wonder why it says Senior Member next to my avatar then. Must be a fluke.
